Epidaurus

The ancient sanctuary of Asclepius famous for its acoustically perfect 14,000-seat theatre.

Epidaurus (Επίδαυρος) was the most important healing sanctuary of the ancient Greek world, dedicated to Asclepius. The site's star attraction is the 4th-century BC theatre — 14,000 seats, mathematically perfect acoustics, still in active use for the summer Epidaurus Festival. A whisper from centre stage carries to the back row.
